   Abstract

There are now many different models of primary care operating within the UK. However, the traditional practice owned and run by GPs, almost always with the assistance of a practice manager, is still the most usual model of primary care provision. In some cases, the practice manager is also a stakeholder in the business, in others simply an employee. This section focuses on the management roles of the GPs within traditional style practices.
