    Representation of salaried doctors and locums
 
There is currently discussion about whether salaried and locum doctors are adequately represented by organizations such as the British Medical Association and suggestions of setting up separate representative bodies for this group. While you are working to get through all the hurdles of the GP training years, it can be difficult to think about politics as well. Many registrars will end up taking salaried or locum posts so the discussions might be meaningful if you can find the time and energy to participate.


    Whistle-blowing
 
A recent article in the British Medical Journal made me think about whistle-blowing. I think whistle-blowing is what we need to do if other, more proactive ways of maintaining standards of care fail.
